Survival. The word itself sounds so serious. It is a matter of life or death. Who will make it through?
To survive, people will do anything. Just to make it to the next day.
Some people are told throughout their life that survival is all it is about. Do what you have to do to make it to the next day.
Don’t worry about a future you may not have, just survive. Survive and advance. Day after day.
But survival comes with a downside. If you are just living to see the next day, what are you going to do when the next day comes?
I think that is how we get stuck in a rut. Telling ourselves to just survive. Make it to the next day. Do the bare minimum.
What happens after we do the bare minimum? Is there time for goals then? Will there ever be time?
Doesn’t simply surviving day after day get tiring? I think it is the mindset behind it.
When you do not see anything more than what is around you, you begin to believe that what you see is all there is to see. Then it is all about survival.
Get to the next meal. Get to the next day. On and on. Until you die?
I know people that have never been outside this town. It is all they know. It is all there is to life for them. That is depressing.
I’ve seen more. I know there is more to life than just surviving to the next day. There is so much more. I will see more. I will find more.
