Since I haven’t done a music post in a while, I figured I’d share some songs I’m liking right now.
1. Thirdstory- Hotline Bling (Cover)
I absolutely love their cover of Drake’s hit. I discovered it late last year. The vocals are outstanding. The ensemble fits well together. Check out their Youtube page for more stuff.
2. Sabrina Carpenter- On Purpose
Disney star Sabrina Carpenter is known for playing Maya Hart on the Boy Meets World sequel, Girl Meets World. Although many Disney stars sing, dance, and act, I think Sabrina is good. This is her first single off her upcoming second album. Admittedly I didn’t like it at first, but it grew on me. It’s a catchy little tune about two people starting a relationship and all the emotions that come with it.
3. Shawn Mendes- Treat You Better
Some may be familiar with Shawn Mendes from his song “I Know You What You Did Last Summer” with Camilla Cabello from Fifth Harmony that has been played on the radio umpteen times. But his new single, tackles the issue of domestic violence in a unique way. He basically is regretting not telling the girl how he feels. Lamenting how he could treat her better hence the song title, than her abusive boyfriend. He also included the national domestic violence hotline at the end of the video. These days, you don’t see videos with a message such as that, with the exception of Chris Stapleton’s Fire Away, which tackles depression and suicide.
So these are some of the songs I’ve had on repeat this past week. Feel free to share your favorites.
I adore Maya Hart in Girl Meets World. First time I heard her sing here. Thanks for this. 🙂
