We knew it was coming when they leaked the decision in May. It has been finalized. Roe v. Wade has been overturned by the Supreme Court. I have always had mixed feelings about abortion. I do not believe abortion should be a form of birth control, as I am an advocate for safe and responsible sex. However, rape and incest happen. Non-viable pregnancies happen. What will happen to the young woman who gets pregnant as a result of rape? What will happen to the woman stuck in an abusive marriage? What happens to the first-time mother who found out the child she longed for is dead in the womb?

Abortion is not outright illegal, as there are still states where you can get one. Those states are out west and up north. I have also heard there are pro-abortion organizations that are offering to pay the moving expenses for women who wish to leave the states where abortion is now severely restricted, which is much of the South. Whatever happens now, I’m not sure if it will be for good. I understand the anti-abortion perspective when it comes to irresponsible sex, however, I don’t understand their logic when they are faced with rape and incest victims. It seems as if, this decision is cutting your nose off to spite your face.
