Things have been going well. I’m grateful. Practicing gratefulness definitely helps when dealing with the nonsense of this world. As I have said in previous posts, there is always so much going on in this world, it’s impossible to keep up with all of it. I try to take social media breaks from time to time too.
I’ve been diving into some new hobbies. Well, mainly just continuing the new hobbies I started last year, as well as returning to other hobbies. Pickleball, skateboarding, getting back on my bicycle, adding to my knife collection, reading books and other things.
Pickleball, getting back on my bicycle, and skateboarding are all part of me trying to exercise more, well exercise in a leisurely way. The city I live in started offering pickleball classes and open play sessions last year, and I figured it would be a good way for me to get out more. Pickleball is like a cross between tennis and racquetball. It is fun and definitely a good cardio workout. I’ve had my bike for nearly 6 years. It is definitely something I do as soon as it gets warm outside. I think it will be hot this summer, so I want to ride as much as I can. I’m no expert on the skateboard, I just roll around, but that was something I picked up because I never got the chance to do it when I was younger.
I fell in love with knives a while back. I made a post about it here. Late last year I picked up a Benchmade Mini-Freek, a karambit, and a Kershaw. Knives are cool. I’m partial to folding knives/flippers. I did pick up an axe at a gun and knife show last year too. I am also planning to get a fixed blade knife.
Reading books is still one of my most consistent hobbies. I didn’t read a lot of books last year, but I read enough. This year I plan to read somewhere between 6 and 12 books. I like reading books at a slow pace because I can better digest the storylines. I’m currently reading The Human Son by Adrian J. Walker. I’m halfway through it and it is a good read. I’m not sure what book I will read next, I haven’t been to Barnes and Nobles yet.
So that is what I have been into these last few months. I’ve got some thoughts on other topics, but I will get to that in a separate post.
