Raliegh, Rain Delays, and Beyoncé

This past Tuesday, May 3rd, thousands of Bey fans descended on Carter Finely Stadium in Raliegh, NC to see the spectacularness that is Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as part of her Formation World Tour.

Now I admit, I am not and do not intend to become a BeyHive member. I was simply there to work, but I got the enjoyment of seeing the entire concert.

After about an hour rain delay, DJ Khaled opened the show with his single All I Do Is Win, and some other hits by other artists including the infamous NPHC stroll song Knuck if You Buck.

By the time he got off the stage it had stopped raining. Beyoncé was preparing to come out

The crowd before Beyoncé came out

There had to be thousands of people out there. Some who paid upwards of $2,000 to sit stage side. Yes $2,000 smacakroos.

When she came out she of course performed some songs off her new album Lemonade, including “Sorry”, “Hold Up”, and “Pray You Catch Me” as well as classics such as “Survivor”, “Countdown”, and “Love on Top”.

Countdown

Then the rain started. Then the thunder and lightning. I think at this point she was on song twelve. We had to get everyone out of the stadium. For safety, we instructed everyone to go across the street to PNC Arena or wait in their cars.

The show wasn’t over, we just had to get everyone out.

Thirty minutes later the rain and lightning stopped. Whew, we could now let everyone back in.

The show commenced. Beyoncé performed another couple of songs and then the stage and lights turned a pretty purple.

Prince.

Purple Rain played over the speakers as guest lit up cell phones to pay homage to the music legend.

“How lucky are we, to have had Prince, Michael, and Whitney in our generation” Beyoncé stated after the song finished and she returned to the stage.

She performed “Freedom” and “Daddy’s Lessons” songs off her new album, and the rain began again.

“This rain is beautiful actually” she stated as light rain fell. The crowd applauded and roared approval.

She finished the concert with “Halo”. It was now after midnight.

Rain and rain delays didn’t stop Beyoncé from putting on a great show. It was very well done. Bey fans were amazed, and as a fan of music, so was I.

Bad Blood

So if anyone watched the Billboard Music Awards this past Sunday, I am sure they saw Taylor’s Swift’s starstudded video for her song Bad Blood. if not, it is linked to this post. I can not stop playing this song. I love it. I’d say this video premire was the best part of the ENTIRE awards show. I like watching awards shows but for some reason this year’s Billboard Music Awards did not do it for me. There were some parts I liked, like the tribute to Breakfast Clubs, Nick Jonas’s performance, and Taylor Swifts numerous awards speeches, lol, but overall the show sucked. Oh and the hosts, umph they have to choose better hosts next year. But anyhow, I am in love with this song and am proud of Taylor for FINALLY becoming a true pop artist.

Sam Smith- My New Love Interest

I AM IN LOVE WITH SAM SMITH!!!! I found him on iTunes about a month ago and I have been in love with him ever since. He is an artist from London, and he has been featured on songs with Naughty Boy (La La La) and Disclosure (Latch). His debut album, ‘In The Lonely Hour’, comes to the US on June 17, (It came out in the UK on May 26). The first song I heard from him was Stay With Me. The song features Smith’s soulful vocals and paints a story of a love sick man who can’t get over his one night stand. After hearing the song, I immediately bought it from iTunes. It’s on my iPod and I can’t wait to get the rest of the album. I have had the pleasure of hearing some tracks from the album on his YouTube channel and I fall in love every time I hear it. From what I’ve heard, this album is a must for anyone who is a fan of soulful, love scorned ballads. I’ve included a few of the tracks that I have fallen in love with (In order of my love of course).

1. Lay Me Down

2. Nirvana

3. Leave Your Lover

4. Stay With Me

5. Money On My Mind

6.Not In That Way

7. I’ve Told You Now

The Gifted by Wale

The Gifted by Wale
Release Date: June 25,2013
Grade: A

The Gifted is Wale’s third long-player album. The songs show a more melow part of the rapper. Each song explores his feelings on relationships and growing fame. Bad, featuring Tierra Thomas, suggest that love is sought after in the wrong way. While Vanity plays on the materialized culture of the rap business. With the exception of Clappers and Rotation, the album has a cool vibe to it. It’s an album that can be played in the car or at the club. His content and lyric delivery are great and I give it an A.

Best Track(s): Bricks(feat. Yo Gotti and Lyfe Jennings) LoveHate Thing(feat. Sam Drew).
