LiveStream and my lovely Android

So yesterday I was set up to watch the live stream of The Strivers Row’s annual Anthology show which was at Stage 48 in New York. I’m all the way in North Carolina so you can imagine how happy I was earlier this week when they announced that there would be a Live Stream. Unfortunately my phone’s video player isn’t compatible with the actual LiveStream site so I had to download a flash player app. The video skipped like every 5 seconds so I deleted the app. I abandoned my phone and instead went to see if a computer was available. Luckily it was and I was able to watch the live stream without it skipping every second. Needless to say, my Android just cant work well with LiveStream, but it’s cool because I got to see the show anyway.

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When cares are pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow
You might succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to the faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup.
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit —
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Excuses

Excuses are the tools of the weak and incompetent. Used to build monuments of nothingness and bridges to nowhere.Those who use them seldom excel in anything else but excuses.

* I don’t know if this is all the right words but I tried to remember it verbatim.

Poetry is awesome

The way poets use words and metaphors to convey their emotions is lovely. I like going on YouTube and looking at videos of Brave New Voices, The Strivers Row, T. Miller, and Def Poetry among many others. At my college there is a poetry group that I saw for the first time this past spring. Seeing them actually started my liking of poetry. I think poetry is great and even though I’m downright awful at rhyming I would like to start doing a little poetry. If you haven’t heard any of the artists and groups I mentioned above just go on YouTube and look them up. While your at it, check out the Button Poetry and speakeasynyc pages on YouTube.
